If Central Maine Power had used the enormous advertising budget it spent to promote the unwanted hydroelectric Canadian corridor on upgrading its current electrical grid, CMP would now have been prepared for the influx of new Maine solar farm generated electricity (“Solar industry baffled, angry as CMP cites need for costly upgrades,” Feb. 4).

Instead, CMP is making threats and demanding that these new solar farms will have to pay exorbitant fees to connect to the CMP grid. In doing so, the company is standing in the way of progress towards renewable energy for Maine.
