HINCKLEY — L.C. Bates Museum will hold its third annual Earth & Space Days event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20, on U.S. Route 201.
With activities provided by the National Informal STEM Education Network, children can explore sometimes difficult scientific concepts in fun and accessible ways. From building stomp rockets to study the upper atmosphere, to creating impact craters on the moon, to planning out the route of a blindfolded “Mars Rover” through obstacles, every activity either imitates a natural process, or models the tools used by NASA scientists to explore and understand the cosmos, according to a news release from the museum.
In addition, several Galileoscopes will be on hand to help those who attend understand the construction behind a simple refractor telescope just like the one invented by Galileo himself four hundred years ago.
More than a dozen activities and games will remain set up throughout each day, with museum educators on hand to guide visitors and answer questions.
