AUBURN — Two local schools were without heat Monday morning, according to a Facebook post from the school district.

Edward Little High School’s heat was working again at 7 a.m., according to the post.

“It will take time to heat a building the size of EL,” the post read.

At mid-morning, Washburn Elementary School’s heating system had not been working, but the temperature inside the school was 60 degrees, according to the Facebook post.

Maintenance staff had planned to have the heat restored by 10 a.m., the post read.

Schools’ Superintendent Katy Grondin told the Sun Journal the elementary school’s heat was working again by 9:45 a.m.

She wrote in an email that the Washburn school’s boiler had a part that burned out and needed to be replaced.

As for the high school, Grondin wrote that school’s boiler did not reset on its own during the night, but did this morning when the reset button was pushed.

Meanwhile, robocalls had been made to parents to inform them of the heating situation. Both buildings were operating on a normal schedule, the post read.
