It is not often that I take the time to send a letter to the editor. Charlie and Nancy Shuman moved here many years ago and started their dealerships. Their dealerships have thrived, but more importantly, they have not forgotten the greater Augusta/Gardiner community. Many acts of charity by the Shuman family cannot be forgotten and is a tribute to their love of community.

Perhaps the greatest tribute is now that their children are running the same business with many of the same characteristics as their parents. There are very few businesses that today can go from one generation to another, but the Shumans seem to have been able to accomplish this.

I write this letter to thank the Shuman family for all the good they’ve done in the community, and for their efforts with their greater family to make central Maine a better place to live.
