Just read Victoria Hugo-Vidal’s column on Pine Tree Power and she makes an important point. First you need to vote in Pine Tree Power, so you can then vote in seven board members who will then select six more board members to run the largest electric utility Maine has ever seen, comprising over 90% of Maine’s electric power.
Who is gonna run for those great-paying board seats? Politicians — those politicians who are driving Pine Tree Power. Who are those seven politicians gonna choose to fill the other six board seats? More politicians, that’s who! You’re certainly not going to get experienced, knowledgeable and highly competent electrical utility executives. You’re gonna get just the opposite: agenda-driven politicians!
