Firefighters from Waterville and Winslow battle a garage fire late Thursday at 117 Water St. in Waterville. Michael G. Seamans/Morning Sentinel
WATERVILLE — Firefighters knocked down a garage fire in a residential area of the city’s South End, a fire official said Friday.
The report of the fire at 117 Water St. came in shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday and firefighters from Waterville and Winslow were at the scene until about 12:45 a.m.
No one was hurt and the investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing, according to Waterville Deputy Fire Chief Jason Frost.
“There was no extension to the fire and our crews were able to knock that down pretty quickly,” he said.

We believe it’s important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It’s a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
