Should UMaine Chancellor Dannel Malloy have been awarded a two-year contract renewal?

A year after the chancellor of the University of Maine System came under fire for his handling of the botched search for a new president of the Augusta campus, the system’s board of board trustees seems to have regained confidence in Dannel Malloy after awarding him a new two-year contract.

The move came after board members had previously renewed his contract for just one year, in the wake of the controversial hiring process that led to Michael Laliberte bowing out as president of the University of Maine at Augusta.

Some faculty continue to criticize the chancellor and the board, saying his latest contract renewal was not transparent and done quietly.

But what do you think? Do you think Malloy should have been awarded a new two-year contract? Tell us in the poll and comments below.
