WATERVILLE — The 18th annual South End Festival & National Night Out is scheduled for 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Green Street Park, 15 Sherwin St.

The event is organized by the South End Neighborhood Association, with support from the Kennebec Valley Community Action Program.

The festival will include a free barbecue, live music, a climbing wall, bounce house, and activities for children and youth. The Waterville police and fire departments and community partners will offer information and resources.

The mobile food pantry will be present, so attendees should bring a grocery bag if they are interested in free fresh produce, according to a news release from KVCAP.

The association is led by Anna Holdener, and membership is comprised of South End Neighborhood residents and local service providers. For more than 20 years, the association has focused on a variety of activities aimed at improving the lives of neighborhood residents, including improvements to Green Street Park, semi-annual clean-ups and beautification projects in the South End.
