DRESDEN — Following a search in Dresden that closed down several roads Saturday afternoon and evening, police continue to look for Frank Foss Jr.
Foss, police say, is wanted on charges stemming from an incident earlier this month and they believe he was camping in a wooded area near the Dresden-Wiscasset town line.
In a news release issued late Saturday, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said Foss is wanted for unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and violating conditions of release.
During the search, access to Old Dresden Road, Calls Hill Road and Orchard Hill Road was blocked off for a time. Searchers did not find Foss and his whereabouts are currently unknown, the release said.
He is not believed to be a danger to the public.
On Saturday, Dresden resident Rose Beckwith was turned back on Calls Hill Road by police who told her turn around as she was headed to Wiscasset. She said she was unaware a roadblock was in place. At about the same time, Tiffany Gagne was headed home to Dresden and was turned away. She said she was told there was a dangerous man at large.
Anyone with information on Foss’s location is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 207-882-7332 or email Det. Matthew Ryan at mryan@lincolnso.me.
