I am the long-retired executive editor of the Kennebec Journal and the Morning Sentinel. After more than 40 years as a newspaper reporter and editor and several years as a college journalism teacher, I think I know something about good writing and logical thinking.
I commend Victoria Hugo-Vidal, The Maine Millennial, for both.
I share most of her views, but not all of them. Whether I agree or not, I find her writing compelling and her thoughtful approach one that is too seldom seen today. She is careful with facts and reasoned in her opinions. She adds to the public discourse about important issues, and she avoids the nasty tone that sadly is the approach taken by far too many writers.
I look forward to her column each Sunday and hope to continue doing so for a long time.
