The Gardiner Fire FC travel soccer team has merged with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kennebec Valley.
This merger comes at an opportune time as BGCKV’s new level playing field, a regulation-size soccer and lacrosse field will be open for play in August, according to a news release from Nicole Cooley with the clubs.
BGCKV has had a club youth soccer program for ages 3 through sixth grade for more than 25 years, with more than 275 soccer players annually.
Ingrid Stanchfield, CEO of the BGCKV, said “It is very exciting to bring our two organizations together to ensure all soccer players have a quality experience. Both programs have incredible volunteers who dedicate so much of their time and talent to our kids. I am looking forward to seeing the beautiful new Level Playing Field full of young players having fun and learning the game.”
Gardiner Fire FC will continue to provide fall and spring travel soccer for the youth in Kennebec Valley. This partnership now gives GFFC a home for travel practices and home games. GFFC offers travel games for boys and girls ages 7 through 14.
Those interested in having their child play either club soccer or travel soccer through the clubs can register their child at bgckv.org/soccer.
