WATERVILLE — On Corpus Christi Sunday (June 11) launched the parish year of the National Eucharistic Renewal as Catholics around Maine will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of events aimed to deepen their encounters with Jesus as we receive, adore, celebrate, and live the transformative power of the Eucharist.

All are welcome to gather for “The Beatitudes and the Eucharist,” a eucharistic retreat, from Friday to Monday, June 23-26, at the Servants of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at 101 Silver St. The retreat will be led by Fr. John Thomas Lane, SSS, the provincial superior of the Province of Saint Ann (USA), according to a news release from Dave Guthro, communications director, Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland.

Daily sessions will include presentations, Masses, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, Holy Hours, and the opportunity for spiritual direction or confession with Lane. No registration is necessary. For times and more information about the retreat, call 207-872-7072.

The National Eucharistic Revival’s Parish Year (June 2023-June 2024) will focus on local efforts for parishioners to be awakened in eucharistic amazement and renewed in gratitude and reverence for the Eucharist. To view a variety of resources, visit the Diocese of Portland’s Eucharistic Revival website, separated into each of the four sections (receive, adore, celebrate, live): portlanddiocese.org.
