The fact is that too many Mainers are dying of overdoses.
We can’t wish addiction away, but we can keep people alive. I urge people to support L.D. 1159, An Act to Establish a Two-Year Pilot Project Regarding Harm Reduction Health Centers to provide overdose prevention, safer equipment supplies and emergency response where it is needed. Health care services, counseling and peer support programs are also available at the harm reduction health centers because this population may not otherwise have access to health care.
The bottom line is that harm reduction saves lives. We can’t keep losing so many Mainers to the opioid crisis. Please call your state representative and senator to vote in favor of L.D. 1159.
