AUGUSTA — Nate Petley, a naturopathic doctor and clinical herbalist, plans in May to share some of his favorite herbs, how he uses them for health and healing, and how to identify them.

His talk is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, in the Community Meeting Room at Lithgow Public Library, 45 Winthrop St.

Those who attend can explore the Maine backyard and discover ways to make use of common plants for both food and medicine, according to a new release from Sarah Curra Schultz-Nielsen, library director.

Petley is also a lecturer who shares his passion and expertise in naturopathic and botanical medicine. He blends the art and science of herbalism in his clinic and classroom, relying on more than 25 years of experience studying plants, wildcrafting, and making herbal medicine.

This event is free. For more information, call the library at 207-626-2415 or visit lithgowlibrary.org.
