The Maine Marine Patrol on Thursday identified the man whose body was recovered a day earlier from the Medomak River in Waldoboro.

Dale Boyington, 45, a shellfish harvester from Waldoboro, apparently drowned when the skiff he and two others were riding in sank in choppy water around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The three were harvesting clams on an island near the Dutch Neck shoreline when their boat sank, according to a release from the Maine Marine Patrol.

The two individuals with Boyington made it to shore. One was treated for hypothermia at the scene and the other was transported to a hospital and released.

Boyington’s body was discovered near Hollis Point by a volunteer who joined the search. The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy.
