The Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center is set to host its 12th annual One in Five 5K hybrid race at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 30.
The event will be held at FirstPark, 46 First Park Drive C in Oakland. The race is one of the Sexual Assault Crisis & Support Center’s largest fundraisers and outreach events.
Participants can join either virtually or in person.
Proceeds benefit the organization’s free 24-hour, confidential support services to victims and families of sexual assault, according to a news release from Kathy Auclair, office/event coordinator at the Winthrop-based center.
“The one in five people in Maine who are victims of sexual violence and abuse, know that we see them, we support them and we care,” said Executive Director Donna Strickler. “As a community, we can come together to make a difference in the lives of those affected by sexual violence. One in five of the racing bibs will be teal, the color of Sexual Assault Awareness; this is a very powerful visual and message of awareness.”
Registration costs $15 for those 17 and younger, and $30 for those 18 and older.
