WATERVILLE — A free Grand Prix race event is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Kennebec Valley Baptist Church, 91 Marston Road.
Small wooden car creations built by youths age 2 through fifth grade, with the help of a parent or other adult, are raced.
Trophies will be awarded for best design and fastest vehicle, according to a news release from the church.
A build day will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at the church where tools, building instructions, and helpers will be provided. To obtain a car project, people can fill out a registration form at the church by Wednesday, Feb. 15. Forms are available at the church 6-8 p.m. Wednesdays.
The first Awana Grand Prix took place in 1964. It is now offered in more than 4,000 churches around the world.
