MADISON — More than $10,000 in cash, cocaine and a pound and a half of fentanyl were seized from an Anson man’s car after he led sheriff’s deputies on a 13-mile chase that concluded on Main Street in Madison, Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster said Friday.
More than $90,000 worth of drugs were found Thursday in a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze driven by 28-year-old Cody Mosher, Lancaster said in a news release. More than 330 pills also were found in the car.
Mosher was charged with aggravated trafficking in a scheduled drug, eluding a police officer, assault and refusing to submit to arrest or detention, although further charges are expected once the case has been reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office for Somerset and Kennebec counties.
The incident began on Waterville Road in Skowhegan in the parking lot of a laundromat where deputies attempted to execute a search warrant on Mosher’s car, Lancaster said. Mosher stopped in the parking lot just before 10:30 a.m. Thursday, but as deputies surrounded the car, Mosher refused to exit.
He then fled in the car, striking a sheriff’s detective standing nearby, and led authorities on the chase. The detective suffered minor injuries, Lancaster said.
Mosher was pursued through Norridgewock and into Madison where a state trooper forced him to stop. The trooper’s car struck the Cruze, forcing it into a nearby vehicle that sustained damage.
Mosher was taken by ambulance to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan where he was evaluated and then taken to the Somerset County Jail.
Mosher has one outstanding warrant in York County and two outstanding warrants in New Hampshire, Lancaster said. His arraignment is scheduled for May 3 and he is being held on a $50,000 cash bail. Mosher remained at the jail Friday.
