Have you ever seen a moose in the wild?

Thousands of people recently attended the Moose Permit Lottery in Augusta, with only 4,106 chosen from 72,446 applicants. The lottery results came at a time when the annual drawing saw the highest number of applicants since 2003.

While few are chosen to partake in the annual moose hunt, Mainers also catch glimpses of moose crossing roads or in swampy areas. Some longtime Mainers have yet to see a moose out and about.
