Mid-Coast Audubon plans to accept bird seed orders through Nov. 12, in order to raise funds to support bird conservation and educational programming.
Seeds must be picked up between 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 19, at one of two locations: Plants Unlimited, 629 Commercial St. in Rockport, or Lincoln County Publishing, 116 Mills Road in Newcastle. People should specify on the order form where they will pick up their seeds.
Five varieties will be offered: Black oil sunflower seeds, 20 pounds for $22, 40 pounds for $38; Sunflower meaties (hulled), 25 pounds for $31, or 50 pounds for $56; Melody Mix, 20 pounds for $20, 40 pounds for $31; Thistle (Nyger), five pounds for $14; and Suet blocks, $2.50 each.
According to MCA President Susan Schubel, “Our spring and fall bird seed sales are important fundraisers for the organization as all of our events are offered free to the public. Proceeds from this sale help to provide support for speaker fees for our public programs, maintenance and repairs of our preserves, birdfeeder station grants to educational institutions, and more,” according to an Audubon news release.
