Benton residents should vote no on all warrant articles on the November ballot. Why? To get the town back to the home rule form of government, which is done at a town meeting. We have lost our ability to have critical issues, like changing the select board from three to five members, discussed, debated and decided in a town meeting, our home rule form of government. It is being presented as a secret ballot vote on the Nov. 8 ballot.
Town meetings provide information so that important town issues, like changing the select board from three members to five members, are established and decided by information, instead of no information that leads to “what is this all about” decisions.
If the warrants are critical enough to be discussed, then have a town meeting and not a secret ballot vote, you can make this happen by voting no on all warrant articles on the November ballot.
