Q&A
1) Define what “success” would look like if you are elected to serve your district.
If I am elected, success would begin with each of them knowing I would work tirelessly for all 15 towns in the district. I would listen to their collective voices to ensure their interest is heard and shared. I would hope they knew at the end of each day that my hard-working and honest demeanor worked to make their lives better. I would be there to represent them each day, not corporations, big money and lobbyists. I would like them to understand I would always be available to listen, learn, and respect each of their views on issues.
In terms of success in these towns, I would fight for our communities to get the resources and help they need for success. It could come in the form of property tax relief, infrastructure upgrades, housing affordability, energy cost relief, public safety, and support for our businesses. I would help them revitalize town spirit, and growth, and know each day I will stand with them to fight for their needs.
I would like each businessperson in the communities — both large and small — to know I would roll up my sleeves to help each of them succeed and solve issues. There are way too many open storefronts and downtowns in District 3. We must do better to find solutions that guarantee success.
In closing, success would be defined as having constituents in the district see me as approachable, open-minded, honest, reliable, a good listener, hardworking, willing to compromise, and one of their neighbors.
2) Characterize your view on public access to governmental business.
The State House is called the people house for a reason. Government affairs should be transparent, and open to the public to access either in person or through online viewing means. We should never conduct business in a vacuum, we are all elected to serve by our peers.
