Q&A

1) Define what “success” would look like if you are elected to serve your district.
If elected to serve my district, success would look like an engaged and informed community. I plan to help make possible all towns having a website at no cost, with all public notices and meetings open to the public listed and communications made to the 100 or so Maine towns that don’t currently have one (including Cornville).

Success would be having the backs of businesses and workers alike in advocacy for infrastructure investments to the Anson-Madison Sanitary District to help mitigate the PFAS crisis for our state, as earmarked by Sen. Angus King.

Success would be helping Madison Water District hold MaineWater accountable for their billing and disconnection issues through the Maine Public Utilities Commission. Success would be finding common ground on how we can get Sunday hunting offered for those who are unable to hunt during the week, while continuing to advocate for firearm safety programs to keep our communities safe.

Success would be working to ensure the recent, and future, investments made in broadband, special education, and mental health actually go toward making a measurable positive impact to increase access and affordability of these services for my district.

Success would ultimately be increased civic participation in the towns I serve and open dialog in a variety of spaces on what we can do to work together to get things done.

2) Characterize your view on public access to governmental business.
I believe public access to government business is vital for maintaining accountability and statewide participation in its processes,  including keeping as many meetings available by Zoom, or other virtual means, so voices of rural Mainers can be part of the conversation without the financial burden of traveling to Augusta.
