The Greater Augusta Back to School Program is set for 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Augusta Civic Center, 76 Community Drive.
Backpacks, grade- and age-appropriate, will be handed out. Students need to be present to receive a backpack.
This year the program will return inside and has expanded its offerings. The last two years were a drive-thru event, according to a news release from Mike Michaud.
The event also will include haircuts, eye screening from the Manchester Lions Club, and martial arts demonstrations, along with talks on bullying in the school.
Hannaford will also be joining the event again this year to hand out healthy snacks.
For more information, call Michaud at 207-441-2838, visit greateraugustabtsp.org or find the program on Facebook.
The Greater Augusta back to School Program was formed because of the great need to help every student have all the tools needed to succeed in school.
