The Beth C. Wright and Dempsey centers are offering an informational session that breaks down the characteristics of chemo brain, as well as strategies to help manage symptoms.
Mackenna Murtagh, a neuropsychology post-doctoral fellow for Goodwill Northern New England NeuroRehab Services, plans to lead this workshop and Q&A at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, via Zoom.
The session is open to cancer patients, care partners, survivors, friends and family.
Navigating a cancer diagnosis is difficult in and of itself, but finding support and connecting with those who understand adds another layer of challenges, especially when living in a rural area, according to a news release on the workshop. To help ease the journey through a cancer diagnosis for those living in central Maine, the Dempsey Center has partnered with Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center to bring its services to the Ellsworth area.
Using the Dempsey Connects virtual platform, clients of the Wright center will be able to access this program virtually from their own home. This online class will allow clients across the state to access the program and encourage connection between those who have been impacted by cancer.
As with all services from the centers, these virtual programs will be provided at no cost. Individuals may access this program at the Wright center if needed.
This program is possible thanks to the support of Jane’s Trust, a charitable foundation located in Boston, and Hannaford Foundation.
