Five local career and technical students won one of the nation’s highest awards at the 2022 SkillsUSA Championships on June 22 and 23 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Sagad Al-Bradri from Augusta and a student at Capital Area Technical Center in Augusta was awarded a Skill Point Certificate in Firefighting.
London Putnam from Readfield and a student at Capital Area Technical Center in Augusta was awarded a Skill Point Certificate in Restaurant Service.
Joshua Gosselin from Wales and a student at Lewiston Regional Tech Center was awarded a Skill Point Certificate in T-Shirt Design.
Team F, consisting of Quinn Denis and DJ McKenzie from Mid-Maine Technical Center in Waterville, was awarded a Skill Point Certificate in Television (Video) Production.
More than 5,200 students competed at the national showcase of career and technical education. The SkillsUSA Championships is the largest skill competition in the world and covers 1.79 million square feet, equivalent to 31 football fields or 41 acres.
