Beginning Tuesday, July 5, hikers can read a book while walking Palermo Preserve trails at 1401 Turner Ridge Road in Palermo.
The featured story is “The Way Back Home” by Oliver Jeffers.
As families walk along the wooded path, they will find laminated pages of the book attached to trees.
The Book Walk allows children to experience the joy of reading while getting outside to explore the natural world, according to a news release from the Palermo Community Library Board of Trustees.
After the hike, participants can visit the library at 2789 Route 3 to see a display and informational sheet about outer space.
This event is sponsored by the library with the cooperation of the Midcoast Conservancy.
