Mike Preston and Kim Curry, a country duo, will perform a Music for Mavis Tuesdays at the Gazebo concert at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, at 98 Mathews Way, in Turner Center.
Curry is a talented singer, fronting The Nashville Express for 10 years playing every Friday and Saturday at Country Crossroads in Standish. She wrote and recorded a song, “Thinking of You,” and also won female vocalist and female entertainer for the state of Maine in the 70’s and 80’s. In 2016 she recorded in Nashville.
Preston, who was raised in Limington, is a talented country singer and guitarist and has spent 27 years devoted to music. Groomed by many famed musicians from Maine, he quickly gained success on the local level, opening shows for The Charlie Daniels Band, George Jones, Ricky Van Shelton and others. He released several recordings and garnished many regional awards throughout the his career, 10 years of which he lived and performed in Nashville
In 2014 Preston and Curry joined up in a local band, and in 2017 started a duo with Preston playing acoustic and Curry playing bass. Together they bring decades of music variety covering new country, traditional country, rock, and blues, sharing their vocal talents individually as well as in blended harmonies and duets.
