The Readers, Writers, and Runners 5K, a fundraiser for the Phillips Public Library, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25.

The race begins and ends at the library, 96 Main St. in Phillips. The fundraiser celebrates the local library and community of book lovers, according to a news release from the library.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the library parking lot. The race fee is $10.

An award ceremony and prize raffle will follow the race, with lunch available for sale by local Girl Scouts Troop 1084.

Immediately following awards, a book talk will begin a little after 11 a.m. with Maine writer D. Dauphinee, author of “When You Find My Body” (about the disappearance of Appalachian Trail hiker Geraldine Largay) and a new novel, “All The Creatures That Breathe,” a story of 3 Harvard archeology students who are drawn into a dangerous adventure while traveling through Peru to study Incan ruins.

The book talk is open to all, regardless of whether or not they are a race participant.

This event is sponsored by Edmunds Market, Sandy River Cash Fuel, Dan and Scott’s Cremation and Funeral Service, Rangeley Region Sports Shop, and Reeds Portables.
