READFIELD — The Maranacook softball blanked Lisbon 2-0 in a Class C South prelim game Monday afternoon.

Grace Dwyer hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to score Shylah Woodford and put Maranacook (13-4) ahead 1-0 early. The Black Bears didn’t score again until the sixth inning, when Woodford hit a sacrifice fly to score Alexis Michaud and put Maranacook up 2-0.

From the circle, Maranacook’s Alexis Michaud pitched all seven innings, striking out seven while scattering six hits.

Lisbon’s (5-12) Erica Hill struck out seven against six hits, as well. Sophie Maloy hit a double for the Greyhounds.

 

MADISON 12, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 2: Brooke McKenney struck out 13 and didn’t walk a batter as No. 2 Madison rolled to the Class C South prelim victory in Madison.

The Bulldogs (17-1) scored six runs in the third inning to put the game away, highlighted by a Landyn Landry double.

Lilly Levesque and Aribelle Linkletter each had three hits for Madison.

 

BASEBALL

 

MARANACOOK 3, HALL-DALE 2: Maranacook scored three runs in the first inning and then held on late to edge the Bulldogs in a Class C South prelim.

Nick Florek had a two-run single and Luke McLaughlin added an RBI single to give the Black Bears (12-5) the lead.

Alex Trafton and Brayden St. Pierre also doubled for the Bears.

Hall-Dale (7-10) scored two in the top of the fifth. Kai Lucas and Jackson Leach each had RBI singles for the Bulldogs. Lucas finished with three singles.

Florek pitched two flawless innings in relief of Trafton to earn the save. Trafton (4-2) pitched five innings, allowing two runs while striking out eight.
