Kennebec Valley Tourism Council has awarded $2,000 in sponsorship support funds to the Maine Film Center for the 25th Maine International Film Festival.
This funding aims to assist in the growth of tourism in Maine’s Kennebec Valley and produce a positive economic impact on the region, according to a news release from the council.
Maine Film Center was one of nine sponsorship recipients awarded as part of the 2022 KVTC marketing partnership program. The 2022 KVTC sponsorship support application requests reached nearly $21,500.
The organization was unable to fully fund the regional sponsorships request, but was able to fund every applicant in some capacity.
“We’re so grateful to have the longstanding support of the Kennebec Valley Tourism Council, which recognizes the value of the Maine International Film Festival each year as a cultural touchstone for the region, attracting thousands of patrons and residents,” said Mike Perreault, executive director of the center. “This upcoming 25th anniversary of our event will not only draw tourism, but will continue to support local businesses, hotels and restaurants at the height of the tourism season in Maine.”
