Twenty-eight students from Capital Area Technical Center in Augusta competed March 18 in the State SkillsUSA competitions in Bangor. A virtual award ceremony was held March 30.
Participating schools included Cony High, Gardiner Area High, Maranacook Community High, Monmouth Academy and Winthrop High, according to a news release from the center.
The following medals were awarded to tech center student:
Gold Medals: Kamryn Dube, Winthrop: Commercial Baking; McKenna White, Cony: Computer Programing; Sagad Al-Badri, Cony: Firefighting; Dalton Morang, Cony: Information Technology Service; London Putnam, Maranacook: Restaurant Service; and Kaitlyn Whitney, Winthrop: Technical Computer Applications.
Silver Medals: Corey Wilson, Gardiner: Computer Programming; Zachary Pouzol, Gardiner: Culinary Arts; Madison Jackson, Cony: Cybersecurity; and Brandin Jasper, Maranacook: Technical Computer Applications.
Bronze Medals: Dakota Willey, Cony: Interactive Application and Video Game Design; Kimberly Serrano, Cony: Interactive Application and Video Game Design; Tyson Tibbetts, Cony: Knowledge Test Electrical Construction Wiring; and Isaac Fortin, Monmouth: Heating.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. The state’s gold medalists can represent Maine in the National SkillsUSA Competitions to be held this June in Atlanta, Georgia.
