A retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer with many years experience in the Soviet Union and its successor states is scheduled to analyze the Russian invasion of Ukraine in a presentation at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 27, at St. Giles Church, 72 Gardiner Road in Jefferson.
Louis Sell, now a resident of Whitefield, will talk about the background of the current crisis in Ukraine, and the likely prospects for its resolution.
Sell held numerous high-level positions at the embassies in Moscow and other capitals in the region, and at State Department offices in Washington. He also has published widely on developments in Russia and the Balkan countries.
In 2016 Duke University Press published Sell’s book “From Washington to Moscow: US-Soviet Relations and the Collapse of the USSR.”
