The Red Barn in Augusta, long known for its many community fundraisers at its Riverside Drive restaurant, is now going mobile in an attempt to serve complimentary meals to people in need.
Owner Laura Benedict said in a new Facebook post that the Red Barn has decked out a truck and will be making stops at nursing homes and veterans’ homes to serve the residents complimentary meals.
Red Barn traditionally serves Maine fare, lobster rolls, fried seafood, chowder, chicken and fries.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Benedict has been delivering meals to people who normally can’t make it to her locations. And now the food truck will help get to more locations, she wrote.
