AUBURN — Saint Dominic Academy, with campuses in Auburn and Lewiston, plans to hold Catholic Schools Week from Monday, Jan. 30 through Saturday, Feb. 5.

“I believe it will be a week that promotes and celebrates our values and will be a lot of fun,” said Alanna Stevenson, principal of St. Dom’s, according to a news release from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland.

Many of the events and activities scheduled for Catholic Schools Week will extend across both campuses. Among the service projects set for the week are:

• A fundraiser for St. Martin de Porres and St. Catherine of Siena Residences, which serve both homeless men and women in the Lewiston area;

• An initiative to provide items and a morale boost for employees working at Central Maine Medical Center and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston;

• A snack donation and collection for the homeless served at the Trinity Jubilee Center in Lewiston; and

• A project to create decorations for the Montello Manor and Clover Health facilities.

“Students will deliver the items to the various locations during the week. At Clover Health, the students will carry posters outside the building so the residents at the nursing home can see and enjoy them,” said Stevenson.

During the week, the students can participate in an ice-skating event, team activities, and artistic and creative challenges. Dress-down days will be held, and students will write personalized thank you notes to staff and volunteers and Valentine’s cards to hospital and nursing home patients. The students will also write thank you notes to bus drivers and letters to government leaders describing the good that happens in Catholic schools.
