100 Years Ago: 1921
A meeting of the Androscoggin Poultry and Pet Stock Association was held in Auburn Wednesday night, when plans were discussed for the big exhibition to be staged in Auburn Hall, Nov 29, 30 and Dec 1. The attendance was good and applications now on hand indicate that the stock will be the best in the vicinity.
50 Years Ago: 1971
The Bates College Modern Dance Company will present six performances for fourth and fifth grade classes in Auburn, Thursday and Friday. “The lecture-demonstration consists of five dances and selected short movement studies, which illustrate how people dance every day even though they may be unaware that they are dancing,” a college spokesman said today. The Parents Creative Arts Committee of Auburn is planning the Bates dance company performances in the Auburn school system. Directed by Bates College lecturer in dance, Mrs. Marcy Plavin, the Modern Dance Company is sponsored By the Department of Physical Education for Women at Bates College. Local members of the dance company who will be performing in the Auburn schools are Janis H. Bass, ’72, Lewiston, Nancy Hayes, ’72 of West Auburn, Celine Ward, ’74 of Lewiston and Thomas Woodward, special student at Bates, of Lewiston.

Mildred Brown, of Lewiston, prepares for Veterans Day by placing flowers at her husband’s grave site in Gracelawn Cemetery in Auburn. Herman Brown Sr. was a Korean War veteran.
