WATERVILLE — Briana Warner, president/CEO of Atlantic Sea Farms in Saco, is scheduled to speak during a leadership luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Amici’s Cucina, 137 Main St.
The luncheon, hosted by Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce and KV Connect, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Warner, the driving force behind the work being done by Atlantic Sea Farms, will share her challenges in growing this successful business, along with her vision for future growth in the kelp field, her entrepreneurial path and lifelong experiences that propelled her to her current position.
Warner has dedicated her life to doing well by doing good. She is passionate about her home state of Maine and working with partner farmers to help create a more resilient and thriving coast. Since taking over as CEO at Atlantic Sea Farms in 2018, she and her team have expanded the company to work with 24 partner farmers from Portland to Eastport.
She has followed a winding path that brought her to kelp, including serving several tours as an economist and diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service, starting and selling a wholesale bakery in Portland focused on pies with an international flair and employing recent refugees resettled to the area, and creating the first economic development programming suite at the Maine-based Island Institute.
She is an avid gardener, an obsessive cook, and a mother of two sons.
In 2020, Warner was named an Eating Well Magazine Food Hero, awarded the Specialty Foods Associations Business Leadership Award, and sat on several state, national, and global aquaculture and business policy boards.
The luncheon costs $20 per person for members, and is $25 at the door and for nonmembers. Lunch is included.
Leadership luncheon sponsors are Kennebec Savings Bank and Central Maine Growth Council.
