As the state senator for Skowhegan, I’m so pleased to announce that Sen. Susan Collins has secured $2 million in the Fiscal Year 2022 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations bill to support the Run of the River project.
This project, which Sen. Collins called “visionary,” seeks to revitalize the downtown area by utilizing our greatest asset: the Kennebec River. If awarded, these funds will help support the construction of paved walkways, trail access, a riverfront promenade and other infrastructure improvements.
This funding will help Run of the River achieve the important mission to position Skowhegan as a tourism destination that attracts visitors from near and far for the recreational opportunities it will create. I’d like to thank Sen. Collins for supporting Skowhegan’s vision with this funding request. Once the transportation budget is approved, I have no doubt this funding will help the town meet it’s impressive goals.
