Mahoosuc Community Band will play a concert at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, at the Bethel Common gazebo.
After over a year of not playing music together, members of the Mahoosuc Community Band started rehearsing in June. Rusty at first, the band has worked hard to make music together again. Under the direction of Patricia Boyle-Wight and Simon Smith, the band will play a selection of traditional favorites. Songs include “Basin Street Blues,” “God Bless America,” “Moondance,” “National Emblem March,” “Instant Concert,” “Blues Brothers Revue,” The Beach Boys greatest hits, and “Stray Cat Strut.”
Please bring a chair as the concert is outside on The Bethel Common. Donations will be accepted. The concert will be canceled if bad weather is predicted for that evening.
Mahoosuc Community Band practices every Monday night from 7 p.m.-8:45 p.m. in the basement of West Parish Congregational Church. Each member must be fully vaccinated with COVID vaccine prior to coming to a rehearsal. The band welcomes new members or people who haven’t picked up an instrument in a long time. Contact band president Scott Hynek for more information (hynek@roadrunner.com). The band will start rehearsing on Monday, Sept. 20, for a possible Christmas concert.
