CHESTERVILLE — Family Fun Day is set to return Saturday, Aug. 14. The event was canceled last year because of COVID-19.

The day will kick off with the parade. The theme is ‘Let Freedom Ring’. Line up will be in North Chesterville at 8 a.m. The parade starting at 9 a.m. will travel along the Valley Road to the town hall on Dutch Gap Road.

A flag raising ceremony will take place at the hall at 10 a.m. Most of the activities will then take place until 1 p.m.

Music will be provided by Travis Pinkham and Friends. Children’s games will be under the direction of the historical society and meetinghouse groups, organizer Tiffany Estabrook said.

Free popcorn, cotton candy and hotdogs will be provided by the organizers, she said. Other organizers are Glenda Barker, Linda Bauer, Linda Gramlich, Carroll Corbin and Mike Lee.

Organizers are also putting on the chicken barbecue this year with proceeds going into the fund for next year’s event, Estabrook said. For $10 diners will receive half a chicken, coleslaw, chips, roll, dessert and a drink.

“We have a lot of people in town willing to contribute,” she said. “It’s a well rounded group.”

Kyle Gammon will be bringing animals for the petting zoo.

Chesterville Family Fun Day was revived in 2017 after several years without the event.

“We know it won’t be as big as in years past,” Estabrook said. “We’re just trying to do something.”
