The Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival will hold its third and final live concert of its 49th season at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27, at Deertrees Theatre in Harrison.

Laurie Kennedy, music director of the festival from 1985 to 2015, is retiring from the festival itself and will be honored during this concert.

The Tuesday night chamber music series is the signature event of the festival’s season. The historic Deertrees Theatre is the informal, picturesque setting for the series, which normally takes place on the last three Tuesday evenings in July and the first two Tuesdays in August. In this not-normal year, the three live concerts will be held in July only. Originally built for summer theater and opera productions in the 1930s, the restored 300-seat Deertrees Theatre offers superb acoustics and proximity to the stage, which enables a close rapport between musicians and audiences. Deertrees has been home to the festival for nearly 30 years.

The Program

BARRIÈRE: Sonata for Two Cellos in G Major
AMY BEACH: Piano Quintet, Op. 67
BEETHOVEN: String Quintet in C Major, Op. 29, “Storm”

The Artists

Min-Young Kim, violin
Keiko Tokunaga, violin
Laurie Kennedy, viola
Matthew Sinno, viola
Mihai Marica, cello
Bonnie Thron, cello
Mihae Lee, piano

Tickets for the live performances are $27 reflecting a $2 Deertrees Heritage Fee. As always, students and young adults 21 and under are free. Purchase tickets at sebagomusicfestival.org. Reserve tickets for young attendees at the same time. Tickets will also be available at the Deertrees box office on the night of the concert.

While Sebago-Long Lake Music Festival is performing only three live concerts this year, it has been able to record five concerts at the state-of-the-art recording facility at the newly renovated Majestic Theatre at Mountain Top Music Center in Conway, New Hampshire. Those five concerts are available at sebagomusicfestival.org. More about the artists and the festival itself can be found there as well.
