Through its Community Building Grant Program, the Southern Midcoast Committee of the Maine Community Foundation has awarded $98,612 in community-building grants to 13 nonprofits.
The committee awards grants from MaineCF’s Lincoln and Sagadahoc county funds.
Grant recipients include Lincoln County Dental in Wiscasset, which plans to utilize the funds to optimize patient health and minimize the risk of viral spread through the sanitization of operatory spaces using UV light systems and air filtration.
Veggies to Table in Newcastle intends to use the funds to grow the capacity to feed and educate community members experiencing hunger.
The Lincoln and Sagadahoc county funds are permanent endowments that support projects and nonprofits that strengthen communities in the counties. Proposals are submitted through MaineCF’s Community Building Grant Program and are reviewed by a committee of local leaders.
The next proposal deadline is Feb. 15, 2022. The application, guidelines and a complete list of 2021 grants can be found at mainecf.org.
MaineCF’s county funds are built through donations from the community. For more information about the funds, contact Maggie Drummond-Bahl, MaineCF senior program officer, at 877-700-6800 or mbahl@mainecf.org.
