When Fairfield Police Officer Casey Dugas went to work Friday last week he was thinking it would be a day like any other.
But he was wrong. The Fairfield officer was in for a squealing good time.
According to a post on the Fairfield Police Department – Maine Facebook page, Officer Dugas showed up to the most unexpected call: runaway swine.
The Oakland Police Department received a report that some pigs escaped into the backyard of a residence on the Fairfield end of Ten Lots Road, according to Officer Dugas. He, along with Fairfield’s Animal Control Officer Robert Crosby, were able to wrangle up the pigs into their enclosure.
But not before Crosby had to chase down a runaway cow — as if runaway pigs weren’t enough.
“I can’t say that it is the craziest call that I’ve had,” said Officer Dugas. “Being a rural police department, we get our fair share of loose livestock calls.”
