Hawaiian grass skirts and Don Ho music will be coming to the Mountain Valley Middle School on Wednesday for the last Renaissance Night of this school year. Faculty and staff will be streaming students and their parents with a vocal rendition of “Tiny Bubbles” as part of their repertoire, Assistant Principal Thomas Rowe said. “Don Ho music will set the stage. He’s … the Frank Sinatra of Hawaii,” Rowe said. The women will definitely be wearing grass skirts in typical Hawaiian fashion, and if the students get their wish, some of the male staff members will be dressed in grass as well. “(Principal Chartes) Lever and I may just do that,” Rowe laughed. Gifts and prizes totaling over $750 will be distributed to students who have achieved honor roll status and/or for perfect attendance this quarter. The staff will present certificates to students for academic excellence and perfect attendance, as well as special freebies from area merchants.

The material used in Looking Back is produced exactly as it originally appeared although misspellings and errors may be corrected.
