The Waterville Public Library will launch its Waterville Seed Library Monday, April 12.
This free public resource features 12 different varieties, including tomato, pumpkin, summer lettuce mix and green beans. Beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, and while supplies last, orders for seeds can be placed via a form at https://sites.google.com/view/watervilleseedlibrary/ or by calling the library at 207-872-5433.
To enhance the opportunity for others to access this resource, seed requests are limited to 10 packets or less per grower. Growers will be notified by email or phone when seed orders have been filled and are available for pick up through Library To Go at the Waterville Public Library.
In addition to offering free seeds to the community, organizers have put together this menu of programs:
• A Local Voices Storytelling Series on Waterville Public Library Facebook will be held at 8 p.m. every Wednesday starting April 14.
• A three-part live virtual lecture series with Will Bonsall, director of the Scatterseed Project: “Introduction to Seed Saving,” 7 p.m. April 22; “Biennials: What to Do When One Year Just Isn’t Enough Time,” 7 p.m. May 13; and “Pollination Control: When Purity Matters,” 7 p.m. June 3.
• Waterville Creates “Planting A Seed” Art Kit, available by April 25.
• Crafternoon: “Pollination Craft,” available by April 27.
