WATERVILLE — A pickup truck was badly damaged Thursday morning when it was involved in an accident with a tractor-trailer in the northbound lane of Interstate 95.
The accident occurred at approximately 11:25 a.m. just north of exit 127 (Kennedy Memorial Drive), near the Waterville-Oakland line.
Troopers arrived at the scene and determined that a 2014 Toyota Tacoma operated by Sean Winters, 46, of Oakland, was trying to merge on the interstate when the truck sideswiped a Pottles Transportation tractor-trailer, according to Shannon Moss, a spokeswoman for the Maine State Police.
The Tacoma lost control and overturned in the median.
Waterville Fire and Rescue and Delta Ambulance responders evaluated Winters; he was uninjured, according to Moss.
One lane on I-95 was blocked due to the accident for about a half hour. Maine Department of Transportation helped direct traffic.
The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries, according to Moss.
According to Moss, the driver of the truck went off the road and lost some bags of sand. The bulk of the sand was picked up.
