MADISON, Wisc. — Mackenzie Holmes scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and No. 11 Indiana rolled past Wisconsin 77-49 on Wednesday.
Ali Patberg and Nicole Cardano-Hillary added 14 points apiece for Indiana (15-4, 13-2 Big Ten Conference), which won the first meeting 74-49.
The Hoosiers have won six straight to reach their highest ranking in school history.
Julie Pospisilova led Wisconsin (5-16, 2-16) with 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting. The rest of the Badgers were 13 of 47 (28%).
Holmes, who also had five blocks, was coming off two sub-par games when she scored a total of 13 points on 3-of-24 shooting. That dropped her shooting percent to 56.8 and her scoring average from 18.7 to 17.3. She was 8 of 14 against the Badgers and made all seven of her free throws for her seventh 20-point game of the season.
Cardano-Hillary and Grace Berger had eight rebounds each to help Indiana to a 50-22 rebounding advantage.
(7) BAYLOR 70, OKLAHOMA STATE 51:Â NaLyssa Smith scored 20 points, DiJonai Carrington had a double-double and host Baylor (18-2, 13-1 Big 12) beat Oklahoma State (17-7, 13-5) for its 10th win.
The Lady Bears took control by scoring the last 17 points before halftime. But that came after a miserable stretch of nearly 9 1/2 minutes when they blew all of an early 14-point lead with nine turnovers while missing 11 of 12 shots.
(13) SOUTH FLORIDA 56, TEMPLE 47: Bethy Mununga scored 10 points and grabbed 20 rebounds and visiting South Florida (14-1, 11-0 American) beat Temple (9-9, 9-6) to extend a program record with its 13th straight victory.
South Florida pulled away in the fourth quarter, opening on a 17-2 run – with scoring from five players. Temple made just 3 of 14 field goals in the final 10 minutes.
PENN STATE 69, (15) OHIO STATE 67: Niya Beverley scored a career-high 21 points, Makenna Marisa added 17 with eight rebounds and eight assists and Penn State (9-11, 6-10 Big Ten Conference) upset host Ohio State (13-5, 9-5), ending an 11-game losing streak in the series.
Marisa’s layup with 1:01 to play was the winning basket, set up after Beverley, who was 9-of-11 shooting, grabbed an offensive rebound.
IOWA STATE 85, (18) WEST VIRGINIA 68: Ashley Joens scored 20 points, Lexi Donarski and Kristin Scott added 18 each, and host Iowa State (15-9, 11-6 Big 12 Conference pulled away from West Virginia (17-4, 11-4).
Emily Ryan added 13 points and Kylie Feuerbach 10 for the Cyclones, who went 13 of 27 from 3-point range and 14 of 14 from the foul line for the highest point total allowed by the Mountaineers this season. Ryan added nine assists, giving her an ISU freshman record of 137 this year.
Kysre Gondrezick scored 19 points for West Virginia, which was without starting point guard Madison Smith because of a hamstring injury that will keep her out at least until the postseason.
(23) MISSOURI STATE 67, SOUTHERN ILLINOIS 55: Jasmine Franklin led a balanced attack with 14 points and nine rebounds and visiting Missouri State (16-2, 12-0) beat Southern Illinois (8-11, 5-9) to claim the Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title for the 14th time since 1990.
MARQUETTE 85, (24) DEPAUL 71:Â Selena Lott scored 25 points, Camryn Taylor added 20, combining for 37 in the second half, and Marquette (17-4, 14-3 Big East) defeated DePaul (16-5, 13-4) at Chicago.
Chloe Marotta added 16 points and Jordan King 13 for the Golden Eagles, who have won six straight with their first win over a ranked team since beating DePaul at the end of last season. The win clinched the No. 2 seed for the conference tournament next weekend.
(25) RUTGERS 63, MICHIGAN STATE 53: Freshman Diamond Johnson scored 22 points, Arella Guirantes had 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, and visiting Rutgers (11-3, 7-3 Big Ten) used a 24-7 fourth quarter to beat Michigan State (12-7, 7-7) for its sixth double-digit victory in a row.
Rutgers trailed 46-39 at the end of the third quarter before opening the fourth on a 12-0 run with five straight points from Guirantes. Rutgers made 7 of 10 shots in the fourth while holding Michigan State to 2-of-11 shooting.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
(11) FLORIDA STATE 88, MIAMI 71:Â Sardaar Calhoun scored a career-high 16 points and visiting Florida State (14-3, 10-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) coasted to a win over Miami (7-14, 3-13).
The Seminoles were never threatened after a 19-2 run early in the first half.
Miami has lost eight of its last nine.
NORTH CAROLINA STATE 68, (15) VIRGINIA 61: DJ Funderburk scored nine of his 14 points in the second half and North Carolina State (11-9, 7-8 ACC) opened a big lead and held off Virginia (15-6, 11-4) for its fourth straight Atlantic Coast Conference road victory.
Cam Hayes led the Wolfpack with 16 points and Shakeel Moore had 12 for N.C. State, which last won four in a row on the road in the last two games of 1980-81 season and the first two the following season.
Sam Hauser led Virginia with 21 points.
