PITTSFIELD — Jay Lauter struck out 18 batters and took a no-hitter into the fifth as the Black Bears (3-0) defeated MCI 5-0 in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B action in Pittsfield.
Lauter walked one and allowed two hits, while Mitch Root, Glen Guerrette and Aric Belanger had two hits apiece.
Maranacook scored a run in the second, then added four in the third to take command.
BASEBALL
LAWRENCE 9, NOKOMIS 3: Nick Robertson and Michenzie Steeves combined on a four-hitter to lead the Lawrence baseball team to a KVAC B win over Nokomis on Thursday at Keyes Field.
Robertson also has two hits in the win for Lawrence (2-1), while Christian Adams drove in a run in the victory.
Nokomis dropped to 0-3.
SOFTBALL
ERSKINE 6, LEAVITT 1: Madison Boynton homered and the Eagles scored four times in the fourth inning en route to the KVAC B win Thursday.
Kayla Hodgkins had a pair of hits for Erskine (3-2), while also pitching a complete-game four-hitter and surrendering just a single run in the sixth inning.
Leavitt fell to 0-2.
LAWRENCE 16, NOKOMIS 9: Gretta Knowlton and Emily Hagerty each doubled as the Bulldogs cruised past the Warriors in a KVAC B game in Fairfield.
Sarah Poli earned her first pitching win for Lawrence (1-2).
Nokomis (1-2) got a home run from Makenzy Elderkin and a pair of doubles from Alexis Allard.
GIRLS LACROSSE
ERSKINE 10, BANGOR 3: Tori Grasse and Jordan Linscott each scored three goals to lead the Eagles to a win over the Rams in South China.
Liz Sugg had two goals, while Joanna Linscott and Courtney Tibbetts each added a goal for Erskine (1-0). Annaliese Patterson had five saves.
Erika Robinson had 10 saves for Bangor (0-2).
