READFIELD — The Maranacook baseball team scored three runs in the sixth inning — all without a hit — to rally past Old Orchard Beach 9-7 on Friday in Readfield.

Hunter Glowa earned the victory in relief for the Black Bears (2-0).

OOB (0-1) had six errors.

 

HALL-DALE 22, WISCASSET 0: Tim Cookson had four hits and five RBIs to lead the Bulldogs to a win in their season opener in Farmingdale.

Cookson doubled and tripled, while Patrick Rush hit a three-run double and Sam Shaefer had two hits and two RBIs. Austin Stebbins also had a double for Hall-Dale.

LAWRENCE 7, MCI 4: Nick Grard had two hits and Hayden Lee pitched five scoreless innings in relief, striking out five, to earn the victory for the Bulldogs (1-1).

Owen Williams went 2 for 4 with two singles to lead MCI (1-1).

 

ERSKINE 23, OCEANSIDE 14: The Eagles had three innings of five or more runs to take the offensive battle in Rockland.

Oceanside (0-2)  jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, but Erskine (2-0) answered with 13 runs over the third, fourth, and fifth innings. The Eagles scored eight runs in the seventh to pull away.

Nick Barber, Nick Howard, and Luke Anderson each homered for Erskine.

SOFTBALL

HALL-DALE 23, WISCASSET 0: Samantha Thornton had three hits and winning pitcher Sarah Benner had a triple. Alyssa Bonenfant went 2 for 4 with a double for Hall-Dale (1-0).

 

OAK HILL 24, MT. ABRAM 0: Miranda Kramer smacked a home run, and Molly Flaherty had a double and four RBIs to lead the Raiders to a Mountain Valley Conference win over the Roadrunners in Salem.

Sadie Waterman had two singles and two RBIs for Oak Hill (1-0).

Mt. Abram drops to 0-1.

 

OCEANSIDE 4, ERSKINE 0: Chloe Jones pitched a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts and no walks to lead the Mariners (2-0) over the Eagles (1-1) at Rockland.

Rachel Joyce had an RBI double and Grace Pratt added an RBI single.
