UNION — The Vose Library will host Jan Cunningham, of Camden, and Brenda Page, of Union, for a talk about Maine’s antique spinning wheels at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, at 392 Common Road.

Spinning wheels were integral to farms and homesteads, and functioned as valuable tools in the survival of Maine families. Those who attend can learn how these wheels were used, who made them, or who brought them here, and more.

Cunningham and Page will offer historical information and demonstrate how these antique tools can be refurbished to make wool and flax fibers for creating fine-crafted garments. This hands-on presentation will also allow participants to try spinning on a variety of wheels.

Drop in during open library hours to see the extensive hands-on display created by Cunningham and Page, which features books, fibers, weaving implements and spinning wheels.
